Fall Fashion for 2012

This fall is seeing a lot of unexpected looks. Makeup is seeing not only darker reds, browns, and other neutrals, but we are also noticing from NYFW brighter, jeweled tones for eye makeup and more natural looks. So if you are new to wearing make up, try a bright eyeliner and a nude lip color. And for you pros out there, try out a brilliant peacock green and blue eye with black liner.

For clothing, the return on the cape is back! Channel your inner super-heroine this fall and winter in a modern, yet retro outerwear. And again, brighter jewel tones are being seen here too. Cobalt has made it’s return; it’s a great color for everyone. And if you are looking for accessories to add to your work wardrobe, you can add some color here to perk up any outfit.

Speaking of accessories, bold made its comeback. Alexander McQueen is showcasing statement shoes,  distressed bronze leather purses, and other accessories, like scarves, that are making heads turn. Brooches are also seeing a comeback. We’ve seen the human eye recreated into a conversation piece. Botanical inspired pins were also seen during fashion week.  If you normally wear neutrals during the fall and winter, try adding a bright pin like this one seen below:

Skin care tips for fall and winter

As summer winds down and the weather gets cooler, it’s time for everyone to re-evaluate your skin care routine. With more extremes in weather and many of you getting kids back off to school, taking care of your skin during a more stressful time of the year is beneficial to keeping your skin younger, longer.

First and foremost, DO NOT STOP USING SUNSCREEN. Just because the days are getting shorter and the sun isn’t out as much does not mean that UV rays are not getting to your skin. You can mix in a sunscreen with your makeup or another moisturizer. Check out this great sunblock from Dermalogica.

During the colder days of fall and winter, try out a body scrub for skin. It can help take off dry and ashen skin to help bring out brighter and softer skin. Try out Dermalogica’s Exfoliating Body Scrub!

Moisturizing every day is critical for the brisk weather that is coming ahead. A product like Intensive Moisture Balance  will help smooth away the appearance of dry lines and damage. It is rich in antioxidants and great for dry skin. If you have combination skin, try out Dermalogica’s Active Moist.

And don’t forget to protect the skin on your hands! Many times our hands get neglected, regardless of the season. Well moisturized hands look younger and make a reat first impression.  Dermalogica offers a rich, creamy hand and nail treatment to help combat dryness from hand washing and weather.
If you are interested in any of the above products, give us a call or stop on by and order any (or all) of the above products to help your skin look its best now and forever.

Winter Beauty Tips from Allanté

Changing seasons also means changing your beauty routine. It’s important to know how your skin functions in the winter to keep a beautiful glowing complexion.  We’ll be sharing some tips this winter to help you out!

Tip #1: Exfoliate at least twice a week. This will remove dead cells and allow the skin to absorb extra moisture. The excess oil you get in the Summer is no longer being produced because of cooler winter temperatures. Therefore, the skin loses the water which should be retained in the lower dermis of the skin. Exfoliating prevents premature aging of the skin and fine lines.

In the winter you may have dry or dehydrated skin, we have amazing products by Dermalogica that we highly recommend to can help you with this issue. Give us a call 724-836-3600.
